Holloman Air force Base is seeking qualified sources to perform electric flash butt crane rail welding This specialized welding will be used to weld joints on 60 foot segments of 171 crane rail at the High Speed Test Track HSTT at Holloman Air Force Base New Mexico The contractor will be required to perform the following1 Aligning the rail segments rail head top center line vertically and horizontally within 030 inches 2 FlashButt welding the joint 3 Trimming the excess upset rail material 4 Finish grinding the joint smooth 5 Checking with straight edges for smoothness and straightness the desired end product is smoothnessflatness on the five railhead surfaces such that there is no deviation greater than 030 inches over a 52 inch segment centered on the joint 6 Checking the weld integrity using mag particle technique 7 Provide a certification report on the weld joint In addition it is required to tension the joined rail to a zero tension at 140 deg F ie produce a tensile stress of 14500 psi in the rail at 70 deg F Any contractor that would like to be included in future solicitations for contract actions for this item should fax company address and point of contact to 505 5722107
